A bill introduced to Congress that was developed by a coalition of employers, insurance companies and third-party administrators would make Medicare responsible for prescription drug payments after a claim is settled, eliminating the need for Medicare set-asides to include pharmacy payments. HR 6120, introduced on Sept. 22, would hold primary payers responsible for prescriptions only until the settlement of a Medicare beneficiary's claim.
