A constitutional challenge to the Oklahoma Option has put the brakes on a lawmaker’s interest in drafting opt-out legislation in Wisconsin.
Proponents of alternative benefits plans have touted Wisconsin as the next opt-out frontier, but Rep. John Spiros said he has no plans to draft any such legislation. Spiros became interested in allowing employers to forgo workers' compensation because his trucking company does business in Texas, where employers are not required to provide coverage.
