A Rochester man faces felony grand larceny and forgery charges for allegedly cashing nearly $4,000 in benefit checks sent to his deceased mother, WHAM reported Wednesday.

Curtis Wilson, 56, is accused of cashing six benefit checks totaling $3,914.52. Wilson’s mother died in October 2015, but he continued to cash her checks when they arrived.

Wilson was arrested on one count of third-degree larceny and six counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, WHAM reported. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in court on May 29.

Rochester Regional Health and PMA Management Corp. worked with New York State Police and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office on the investigation, WHAM reported.
