City-wide Blood Drives Become Part of Risico's DNA

All eligible individuals are invited to donate ensuring that lifesaving blood products are available Central Valley patients in need.

FRESNO, CA - July 10, 2019 - Risico, a leading workers' compensation insurer, third-party claims administration, and managed care organization based in Fresno, CA, announced today it plans on hosting recurring city-wide mobile blood drives at its Fresno Campus. The next scheduled event takes place on Tuesday, July 30th.

Risico, in association with the Central California Blood Center (CCBC), encourages local families, friends and neighbors to participate in these important gatherings aimed at helping to maintain an adequate supply of blood products available for Central Valley patients.   

Paulo Castro, Vice President of Underwriting for Risico's Insurance Services and the event's lead organizer says, "One of Risico's core values is to play an integral role in helping patients recover from injury or illness. The effort to ensure that an adequate supply of blood is available for our families and friends in California's Central Valley on an ongoing basis falls perfectly in line and hits close to home for all of us within the organization."

CCBC's mission is to save lives and improve patient care by providing a safe and abundant blood supply for the patients and families in the communities they serve. It supplies blood products to patients receiving care at 30 hospitals and their networks and facilities in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa Counties. An adequate inventory of 5,000 to 6,000 pints of blood must be collected per month to meet the needs of patients in the Central Valley community.
