Downers Grove, IL. (August 21, 2019) - Coventry, a leading provider of care and cost management solutions for workers' compensation, has releases part three of its Annual Drug Trends Series. In part three of our series we look at opioids, which continue to decrease in proportion to overall scripts and costs, with favorable trends in Morphine Equivalent Dose (MED), duration of use, and access to guideline-supported measures including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and overdose rescue medications. Some highlights from the series include:

  • Opioid script cost fell by nearly 2%
  • The number of injured workers using opioids has declined for 5 consecutive years
  • High MED prescriptions had their most significant decrease in 4 years

Each part in the series is accompanied by a deeper dive into various related topics to address specific trends highlighted in the drug trend series. To find out more, visit the Coventry Blog Page.
