Fake QME Who Billed Insurers for Med-Legal Reports Gets Probation

A Southern California doctor who held himself out as a qualified medical examiner and billed insurance companies for reports to resolve nonexistent disputes was sentenced Tuesday to five years' probation and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, the Valley News reported. Dr. Benjamin Gould Cox, of Menifee, was convicted by a Riverside County jury last month on seven counts each of insurance fraud and perjury, according to the newspaper.
