A Texas appellate court upheld an award of lifetime income benefits to a truck driver for the loss of use of his left hand due to his severe burn injuries.
Rodrigo Mendiola was driving a commercial truck hauling a tanker with hot asphalt when he got into an accident that caused the truck to roll over. The hot asphalt entered the truck cabin and caused second- and third-degree burns to Mendiola's torso, as well as his left arm, hand and leg.
