Uninsured Contractor Gets Work Release, $72,000 Fine

A road-paving contractor who continued to operate after his workers' compensation coverage was cancelled was sentenced to 30 days of work release and ordered to pay $72,000 in fines, the Washington state Department of Labor & Industries announced. Salvador Rodriquez, 45, pleaded guilty to one felony count of operating Chava Paving without comp insurance and three misdemeanor counts of unregistered contracting.
