Medicare Reporting Rules Still Not Final, and Questions Continue

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has yet to finalize long-awaited new rules about penalties for improper reporting of information on workers' comp claimants who also are eligible for Medicare. And even though questions remain about the intent of some of the proposed rules, insurance carriers, self-insurers and reporting entities would be wise to sharpen their pencils now and focus on ways to avoid penalties that could run as high as $365,000 per claimant.
