The Travelers Cos. reported a 5% increase in net premiums, a 1% rise in net income and a 0.8% improvement in its combined ratio in 2014.
The corporation's premiums rose from $22.77 billion in 2013 to $23.9 billion last year, according to its fourth-quarter earnings report. After other revenues and expenses, its net income jumped from $3.67 billion to $3.69 billion. It notched a combined ratio of 89%.
