A Republican state lawmaker has pre-filed a bill that would give retired firefighters more help paying for cancer treatment if they were diagnosed within 10 years of their retirement.
Alabama State Rep. Tommy Hanes, R-Bryant — a retired firefighter himself — pre-filed the bill last week. It is scheduled to have its first reading in the House’s Ways and Means General Fund Committee on Jan. 9.
