The total number of nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses dropped 1.6% to 460,700 in 2014, compared to 468,400 in 2013, according to data the California Department of Industrial Relations published Friday.
Information from the department's Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses, or SOII, shows the number of "lost-worktime" cases was essentially unchanged from year to year. There were 265,100 claims in 2014 resulting in job transfers, job restrictions or lost work time, compared to 265,000 in 2013.
