Orlando Woman Sentenced in Workers' Compensation Scheme

An Orlando woman has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and has to forfeit nearly $800,000 for a scheme to evade workers’ compensation requirements involving undocumented aliens working in the construction industry. Orquidea Quezada, 48, did business as Orquicely Construction LLC and applied for comp policies to cover two to seven employees, and claimed an annual payroll of about $100,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
