Kentucky Adopts Formulary Rules; Compounds Must Be Pre-Approved

After eight months of deliberations and input from stakeholders, Kentucky's workers' compensation commissioner plans to approve drug formulary regulations by the end of this week that would require all compound medications to be pre-authorized, even if all ingredients are on the approved list of medications. The proposed rules would require all prescriptions to conform to the MCG Health's Official Disability Guidelines' formulary starting on July 1 for injuries on Jan. 1, 2019, and after; and on Jan. 1, 2020, for injuries before 2019.
