With lost-time claim frequency on the rise, medical and indemnity costs ticking upward and combined ratios well above 100%, the National Council on Compensation Insurance has filed for a 2.6% loss-cost increase in Maine.
The increase marks the third loss-cost filing in the last decade to move upward instead of down or sideways, according to a presentation an NCCI representative gave at the Maine State Advisory Forum on Tuesday. The state has seen a cumulative 23.1% reduction since 2001.
