Illinois’ legislative session is shaping up as a replay of last year as far as workers’ comp is concerned, with Democratic lawmakers resurrecting two bills that the state’s Republican governor vetoed in 2017.
One of the bills would create a nonprofit public insurer to compete with the private market, and another would regulate private insurer profits and rates. Both bills are aimed at reducing the premiums paid by Illinois employers.
