OSHA Fines Stevedore Company $92,100 for Worker's Death

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fined California stevedore company SSA Marine $92,100 for violations uncovered following an investigation into the Jan. 19 death of a worker at the Port of Long Beach.Steven Saggiani, 47, was crushed to death under a 40-foot cargo container, which fell more than 200 feet from a stack of containers. OSHA said SSA Marine committed a willful violation in failing to prevent employees from working below suspended containers.
