The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries on Thursday said it filed a formal update to workplace safety rules that aim to prevent catastrophic events such as the explosion at the Tesoro refinery that killed seven workers in 2010 and the Equilon refinery explosion that killed six in 1998.
The updated rules govern how workplaces handle dangerous chemicals or process safety management, the department said.
