Judge Upholds Jersey City Hospital Fine for Fatal Fall

Friday, July 5, 2019 | 0

An administrative judge for the federal Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission affirmed a $174,593 fine for electrical hazards after a worker who was shocked fell to his death in 2016.

Jersey City Medical Center challenged five citations issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for failing to train workers on how to safeguard electrical equipment and for not following lockout/tagout procedures.

After a three-day trial, an administrative judge found that Jersey City Medical Center willfully failed to train the employee for the work he was directed to perform.
