Tennessee state Sen. Mark Green’s voluntary workers’ compensation measure has passed out of committee after its House equivalent was deferred until 2016 last week.
The Senate Commerce and Labor Committee passed the amended version of Senate Bill 721, which included changes and additions to the minimum benefit levels qualified employers must offer in an alternative plan if they opt to forego workers’ compensation. With a 6-0 vote Monday afternoon, the Commerce and Labor Committee sent the measure to the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee.
