The Kentucky Labor Cabinet will join the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction that begins next week, the Labor Cabinet announced in a release.
The stand-down, a voluntary event that allows employers to talk to employees about fall protection, runs from May 4-15. According to the release, about six Kentucky workers die each year from workplace falls, which account for about half the construction deaths in the state. Fifteen of the 26 workers who died on the job in the Bluegrass State between 2012 and 2014 died as a result of falls.
