Medical billing codes and information about the nature of 485,000 U.S. Postal Service employees' on-the-job injuries might have been exposed in September when hackers infiltrated the agency's data banks.
The cyber attack compromised the Social Security numbers of about 800,000 employees, Postal Service officials announced in November. But in a Dec. 10 letter to the agency's current and former workers, Nextgov has reported that the hackers might have also accessed medical information from the workers' compensation claim files of more than half of those employees.
