Feds Sue Over Hanford Presumption

The federal government followed through on its threat to sue the state of Washington over a law creating a presumption that cancer and other conditions developed by workers at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation are compensable. The complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for Eastern Washington says the presumption created by House Bill 1723 discriminates against the federal government by subjecting the U.S. Department of Energy to greater workers’ compensation liability than other employers.
