Committees Pass Bills Restricting Apportionment, Covering Off-Duty Firefighters

A pair of legislative committees passed bills that would prohibit using race and other genetic factors when apportioning permanent disability and extending workers’ compensation coverage to California firefighters, even when they’re not on duty. The Senate Committee on Labor, Public Employment and Retirement on Wednesday voted 5-0 to pass SB 731, by Sen. Steven Bradford, D-Gardena.
