Neurologist Arrested for Deaths Caused by Unlawful Dispensing

A Las Cruces. N.M. neurologist whose license was revoked in 2012 by the New Mexico Medical Board was arrested last week for prescribing prescription painkillers without a legitimate medical purpose, resulting in the deaths of two patients, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.Pawan Kumar Jain, 61, faces 61 counts of unlawfully dispensing controlled substances and 50 counts of health care fraud, according to federal prosecutors. However, the indictment filed with the U.S. District Court in New Mexico on April 16 charges Jain with 59 counts of unlawful dispensing and 52 counts of fraud....
