The Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania upheld an award of death benefits to the widow of a mechanic who collapsed at work and died of an apparent heart attack.

Facts: Leonard Maurer worked as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic for TA Operating LLC. He collapsed while at work on July 14, 2018, and died shortly thereafter. No autopsy was performed.
Maurer’s widow filed a claim for death benefits, asserting that his death resulted from a cardiac arrest while in the course and scope of his employment.
