A federal judge dismissed a complaint filed by a Southern California lawyer against 10 of his fellow claimants' attorneys who are accused of paying fees for client referrals as part of an alleged capping scheme in Orange County.
U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter ruled that because Van Nuys applicants’ attorney Robert Ozeran wasn’t a victim of the alleged capping scheme, he doesn’t have standing to bring negligence and unfair competition claims. But his order left open an opportunity for the case to proceed in state court.
