New Presumption Bill Lists Most Known Cancers

Texas firefighters for years have protested that the state's cancer presumption law has holes in it big enough to let municipalities succeed in denying most claims. The wording of the 2005 law does not clearly list the types of cancers that are presumed to be work-related, many said. So when the state firefighters' association announced last month that it was backing a bill that would penalize municipalities for wrongly denying or delaying claims, but would do nothing to clarify which cancers were compensable, some firefighters and claimants' attorneys were left to wond...
