Some contractors will be required to carry comp coverage next year even if they don’t have any employees, under a bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The mandate will expand to most licensed contractors in 2026, in accordance with SB 216, by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa.
