A Florida man who conspired to pay construction workers off the books to fraudulently reduce workers’ compensation costs and payroll taxes was sentenced to four years and four months in federal prison and ordered to pay more than $5.4 million in restitution.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said Oscar Molina-Avila was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty in February 2021 to charges of conspiring to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the federal government.
