Federal administrative law judges are trying again, this time with a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives, to reverse President Trump's executive order that removed the hiring of ALJs from the competitive civil service process.
The Association of Administrative Law Judges supports H.R. 2429, introduced by Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland. A similar bill introduced in the Senate last year failed to emerge from committee. Cummings' bill has been assigned to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
