The cost of unlicensed insurance transactions in California would increase, by 40%, under a bill introduced by the chairman of the Assembly Insurance Committee.
AB 207, by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim, would increase — to $70,000 from $50,000 — the fine for a misdemeanor offense of transacting insurance without a valid license. The bill would not change the maximum period of incarceration of one year in county jail for a violation.
