The West Virginia Legislature has passed a bill to create a presumption that some forms of cancer among professional firefighters are compensable occupational diseases.
Senate Bill 82, by Sen. Ryan Ferns, R-Wheeling, has been sent to Gov. Jim Justice for a signature.
The House passed the bill on a 96-1 vote on March 9, following passage by the Senate on a 33-0 vote on Feb. 27.
