State Budget Would Allow Comp Agency to Hire 6 People

Thursday, April 27, 2017 | 0

The 2018-19 budget agreed upon by Hawaii lawmakers on Monday will allow the state workers' compensation agency to hire six people, MauiNow.com reported.

The budget funds six additional permanent positions and funnels roughly $135,000 in extra money to the Disability Compensation Division in fiscal year 2018. It adds $270,432 in extra funds to the division's budget in fiscal year 2019.

The House Finance and Senate Ways and Means committees have met several times to iron out the differences between each chamber's budget, a process that must be completed by Friday. Both chambers agreed on the changes to the workers' compensation budget.

If the Legislature approves the final conference draft of the budget bill, HB100 HD1 SD1 will go to Gov. David Ige's desk.
