Two workers' compensation bills that saw little action in 2018 have been carried over to the 2019 legislative session, which begins Jan. 9.
SB 642, introduced by Sen. Jeremy McPike, D-Woodbridge, would expand Virginia's presumption law for firefighters to include colon cancer. The measure also would drop the requirement that the employee show that he or she had exposure to a toxic substance at work before claiming compensation.
