When Self-Insurers Come in From the Cold, Experience Does Not Apply, NCCI Says

Insurance carriers that assume coverage for Texas self-insurers do not need to include the company's experience when determining premiums in most cases, the National Council on Compensation Insurance said this week. The NCCI made the filing at the request of the Texas Department of Insurance, in keeping with a state law passed in 2017.
