Labor Dept. Sues Salon Owner who allegedly Fired Worker for Warning of Hazards

The federal Labor Department has filed suit against the owner of a Bronx hair salon for firing an employee who tried to warn coworkers about the health hazards of products containing formaldehyde regularly used by haircutters and stylists. The Labor Department has asked the U.S. District Court to order Salon Zoe and owner Kristina Valjovic to pay back wages and compensatory and punitive damages to the whistleblower, whom it did not identify.
