An increase in the average duration of temporary disability claims in Minnesota was a key driver in the increase in average indemnity payments per claim in 2020, according to a recent study by the Workers Compensation Research Institute.
WCRI said the average duration of temporary disability payments increased by about one week in 2020.
Ramona Tanabe, executive vice president and general counsel for WCRI, said most study states saw an increase in TD duration that ranged from 3% to 11%.
