In an effort to prevent doctor shopping by injured workers and tackle spiraling workers’ comp premiums, the board of Woodford County is mulling a workers’ comp preferred provider program, according to The Woodford County Journal newspaper.
The board was scheduled to vote on the proposal on Tuesday and, if approved, it would require injured county workers to seek care from physicians and facilities under the program. Injured workers can refuse to see a doctor in the network, but it would count as one of the two choices of medical providers they are given.
