The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board has adopted an emergency rule, effective Aug. 18, to give the New York Jockey Injury Compensation Fund the option to self-insure for workers’ compensation coverage.
The rule — an addition to Part 320 of Title 12 of New York Codes, Rules and Regulations — was in response to the Legislature’s April 10 adoption of Senate Bill 2009, which expanded coverage under the jockey fund to employees of licensed horse trainers or owners, and allowed the fund to self-insure.
