Hawaii Gov. David Ige is reviewing a bill that would require state government employees to participate in and complete their employer's return-to-work program as a prerequisite to receive vocational rehabilitation benefits.
Injured employees of state government can collect temporary total disability benefits while they are enrolled in a vocational rehabilitation program. At the maximum weekly TD rate of $786, a worker can collect $40,872 per year in benefits while participating in voc-rehab.
