A California state Senate committee on Monday approved a bill that seeks to prohibit discrimination in apportionment, and supporters said they’ll consider amendments submitted by stakeholders who have concerns over its language.
The committee on Labor, Public Employment and Retirement voted 4-0 in favor of Senate Bill 788, by Sen. Steven Bradford, D-Gardena, which would prohibit considering protected characteristics such as race, gender, religion and sexual orientation when determining the percentage of disability caused by non-occupational causes.
