Maryland lawmakers on Tuesday passed bills that would modify how hearing loss is calculated for workers’ compensation benefits, expand the list of cancers that are presumed compensable for certain public safety workers and increase the penalty for failing to secure work comp coverage.
The state House of Delegates unanimously passed SB 843, by Sen. Katherine Klausmeier, D-Baltimore, which would increase the number of frequencies that must be included in hearing tests and alter how age is factored into the calculation.
