The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission operated with only 54 of 63 authorized positions and spent only 82% of the money that was budgeted for it in fiscal year 2017-18, according to an annual report released Friday.
The commission’s statistical recap showed that it spent $4.14 million during the fiscal year, which ended June 30. The state legislature budgeted $5.07 million.
What’s more, the commission employed the equivalent of 54 full-time workers and four temporary employees during the year. The legislature authorized 63 positions.
