State Improves Speed of First Indemnity Payments, Study Shows

Criticized by stakeholders for a number of reasons in recent years, the New York Workers’ Compensation Board this week has something to brag about, according to a new report from the Workers Compensation Research Institute. The report finds that the timeliness of first indemnity payments to claimants has improved significantly, thanks in part to the board’s get-tough policy on payer compliance.
