An internal medicine physician who was banned in 2017 from the Texas workers' compensation system has been indicted on fraud and illicit drug distribution charges.
From 2011 to 2017, Dr. Clinton Battle, 67, of Arlington, billed insurers and submitted false claims to the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation for services that were never provided and wrote prescriptions for opioid drugs without conducting proper medical exams, federal and state authorities said this week. He also allowed his credentials to be used by his nurse practitioner, the indictment alleges.
