The American Insurance Association expressed its support of Oklahoma House Bill 1948 after Gov. Mary Fallin signed the bill, which requires physicians to check the state’s prescription drug-monitoring program before prescribing opioids.
Fred C. Bosse, vice president of AIA’s Southwest region, said in a statement that House Bill 1948 “is a necessary tool to combat” the epidemic of opioid abuse, which he called “one of the most urgent issues facing the workers’ compensation system nationally.”
