The Court of Appeals for the 2nd District of California on Wednesday overturned an award of housekeeping services for an injured worker, finding the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board had exceeded its authority in addressing Maxine Wiggs’ need for assistance.
Wiggs had worked for Allied Signal Aerospace. She suffered multiple injuries in the course of her employment, leading to six surgeries between 1998 and 2012.
Because of Wiggs’ pain and medication usage, she was unable to perform much of her own housekeeping. Her doctor requested that Allied provide the service.
