Workers' compensation carriers are now enjoying the highest profits in decades, in large part because the number of claims by injured workers continues to drop across the country, even as employment has climbed.
That's according to Kathy Antonello, chief actuary for the National Council on Compensation Insurance, who on Thursday gave the much-anticipated State of the Line Report at the council's annual symposium in Orlando, Florida.
