Alaska WC Division Suspends Penalty Collection Due to COVID-19

The Alaska Workers’ Compensation Division announced this week it is suspending the collection of some penalties in hopes of providing temporary relief for businesses that are struggling because of the state’s emergency declaration due to COVID-19. The WCD’s Benefits Guaranty Fund is temporarily not collecting penalties for failure to insure or pursuing compensation the fund paid on behalf of uninsured employees, according to a WCD bulletin.
